Abstract:
»Tis article ofers an analysis of the natural horror flm, a subgenre of horror cinema that features non-human animals in the role of killers and monsters. Te goal is to investigate the characteristics and narrative structures of the natural horror flm from an ecocritical perspective, one interested in the subjectivity of the non-human. Trough an examination of eleven selected flms, the analysis identifes a series of recurring narrative elements, such as the locus horribilis and the fnal couple, and establishes the idea that the natural horror flm can be seen as a kind of hybrid of the slasher and the rape and revenge.«
